Chart in Chinese, hand over English records: how MyTCM translation works
Many TCM practitioners think and chart in Chinese, while insurers, referrals and patients need English. MyTCM translates the clinical report so you are checking English, not retyping it.
How it works, step by step
- You chart in Chinese, by typing or by voice dictation in Mandarin.
- MyTCM removes identifiers from the free text: full name, date of birth, health number and practitioner name.
- The text is translated into English by one of two tiers, Professional or Fast.
- You review the English, correct it where needed, and approve it before it is used.
Two tiers
- Professional: uses DeepSeek. Every plan includes 30 translated reports per location per day. Only genuine excess use is passed through at cost, with no markup.
- Fast: uses Cloudflare Workers AI. It is unlimited and always free, and it never counts toward the Professional allowance.
What leaves your clinic, and what does not
Only free text is sent, never attachments, and the identifiers listed above are removed first. What was sent is kept in an audit log so the removal can be checked. Removing identifiers lowers the risk but cannot guarantee that no identifying detail remains, so avoid putting names inside free text. Each provider and where it processes data is listed on the security and sub-processors page.
You stay in control
AI translation is advisory and can contain errors or omissions. A licensed practitioner reviews and approves the English before relying on it or adding it to a patient's record.
Frequently asked questions
Can I chart in Chinese and still hand over English records?
Yes. You write the note in Chinese, and MyTCM translates the clinical report into English. You review the English before it is used.
What are the two translation tiers?
The Professional tier uses DeepSeek and includes 30 translated reports per location per day. The Fast tier uses Cloudflare Workers AI, is unlimited and is always free. The clinic chooses which to use.
What patient information is sent for translation?
Free text only, never attachments. Before it is sent, MyTCM removes the full name, date of birth, health number and practitioner name. What was sent is recorded in an audit log so the removal can be checked. Removing identifiers reduces risk but cannot guarantee that no identifying detail remains.
Is the translation reliable enough to use without checking?
No. AI translation is advisory and can contain errors. A licensed practitioner must review and approve the English before relying on it or adding it to a patient's record.
Does MyTCM also support voice dictation in Mandarin?
Yes. Dictation works in Mandarin and English and is tuned to TCM vocabulary such as meridian names, point codes and formula terms. MyTCM does not store the recordings.
Which languages does the interface use?
English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
